Kalona’s finances are in good shape according to a recent audit. Ryan Schlabaugh, city administrator for the City of Kalona, was pleased by the findings of their yearly audit. He says it paints a good picture for City Clerk Karen Christner and the bookkeeping efforts.

He says the only deficiency the public accounting group who did the audit found was the segregation of duties. Schlabaugh explains this was something he had expected and adds that it’s difficult for a community of that size to have enough individuals to satisfy those recommendations.  He says all-in-all it was a good audit
