One legislator is hoping that this session will produce property tax reform. State Representative Jarad Klein says this would be a way to address the current surplus. He says that while the House was able to produce 4 bills related to reforming property tax in 2011, they all stalled in the Senate. He adds concessions have been made by the House and the governor, but says he sees Senate Democrats sticking to party lines, eliminating the chance for compromise. Klein explains that being loyal to your party is important, but says rural legislators should be united on issues important to rural Iowa, like this one.
