Mid-Prairie wrestling went 0-2 at a Triangular on Tuesday.

First up was Vinton-Shellsburg who beat the Golden-Hawks 45-31.

Mid-Prairie got a pin from Josh Murphy at 113, a Major Decision from Kendall Bontrager at 138 and a decision from Miguel Sanchez at 152.

Next up for the Golden-Hawks was Iowa Valley, who got the win over Mid-Prairie 48-30.

The Golden-Hawks got pins from Josh Murphy at 113, Miguel Sanchez at 152, Phirom Peterschmidt at 182 and Nearoth Peterschmidt at 195.

Mid-Prairie head coach Justin Garvey said despite the loses, there were some good matches that helped boost the tams confidence.

“We knew going in that we had some guys out of the line up being sick and whatnot, and we knew that we were going to be down even further, we had five open weight classes, and we knew we were going to have to wrestle extremely well, and we didn’t wrestle bad, Bontrager at 138 wrestled at 2-0 at match to the seventh kid in the state from Iowa Valley, and it was one of those matches that you know that you’re in it and you can win it, but you just didn’t do enough in the third period, and we’re happy with a match like that, we know we can go with a guy like that and it is a confidence builder going into the next two weeks,” Garvey said.

Mid-Prairie is off until the conference tournament on Saturday at West Branch.
