The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team was at HLV last night and came out 2-1.

The Golden Hawks only loss was to Washington as they lost 48-21.

The Demons had pins from Jerek Brown at 126, Matt Grote at 145, Tanner Knupp at 152, Brad Skubal at 170, and Fletcher Green at 113.

One the Mid-Prairie side Phirom Peterschmidt was the only Hawk that got a pin at 182.

Demon wrestler Mitchel Hora talked about his toughest match of the day after it was over.

“Well on paper the last kid was the toughest, he ended up pinning the kid from BGM and HLV, the Med-Prairie kid was the best,” Hora said. “I’ve seen him for a couple of years now, that was the first time I’ve gotten to wrestle him though, it ended up that he just landed weird when I neck wrenched him, but he was going to be the best match.”

Mid-Prairie head coach Justin Garvey talked after the meet about how his kids came out to wrestle the Demons.

“Phirom came out and did what he had to do, Nearoth came out and didn’t get to wrestle that one, and Ryan Errthum at 106 pounds came back and get the payback match, he lost in the third or fourth round of the tournament last weekend, and he came back and avenged his loss. Would have liked to seen a couple other guys come back and win some matches, but overall we wrestled pretty tough,” Garvey.

The Golden Hawks also wrestled HLV which they won 60-12, with pins from Kendall Bontrager at 138, Miguel Sanchez at 152, Phirom Peterschmidt at 182 and Nearoth Peterschmidt at 195.

The success also rolled into the BGM dual as they won that won 60-18 with pins from the usually suspects with Kendall Bontrager at 138 and Phirom Peterschmidt at 182.

Washington is back in action on Saturday at East Marshall, while Mid-Prairie will go to Center Point Urbana.
