Demon head baseball coach Nathan Miller has been named the 3A Southeast Iowa coach of the year by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Miller was named the Southeast district, while the coach from Decorah won the Northeast District, Sioux City Heelan won the West District and Dallas Center-Grimes won the Central District along with the 3A State coach of the year award.

Miller’s team fell in the first round of the State Tournament to Dallas Center-Grimes after taking them nine innings. Dallas Center- Grimes went on to become the state champions.

Miller led his team to a 22-15 record, and finished in a three-way tie for the conference title.

In district play they started with conference school Fairfield and routed them 7-2, but next up was top five ranked Grinnell who the Demons beat 8-3.Finally Washington played Williamsburg, and won 5-1 to make it to State.

Miller is currently one of the assistant basketball coaches for the Demon basketball team.
