The City of Washington is hoping to get more people to pay their water-sewer bills on time. A new policy adopted by the city council gets rid of what the City Administrator Brent Hinson says has been special arrangements to get delinquent bills paid.
Hinson says that while that practice has been ended, this new policy still allows for only an occasional leniency. The resolution also signs the city up to participate in a program through the state that withholds tax refunds owed to them if they are significantly delinquent.
