It was No. 3 Lone Tree versus No. 10 IMS, but Lone Tree put on a show as they came away with the win 72-48.
It was the first quarter that set the tone after Lone Tree ran away with the game taking a 25-10 lead after one, and Bryan Forbes had 12 points.
Lone Tree head coach Tom Squires talked in the post game about his team’s effort after the Pekin game.
“I thought our kids came out right from the get go, I was kind of worried after the Pekin game about where our confidence was, but I think the one thing that game did on Tuesday was wake us up a little bit that we need to be ready to play every night,” Squires said.
The second quarter was better, as IMS started to score some points, but in the process didn’t slow Forbes down as he scored eight more to make it 20 for the half, and Lone Tree led
Out of the break the IMS team on paper came to play, getting some scoring chances by Peyton Thompson as he put up 10 in the third quarter.
IMS just couldn’t stop Lone Tree though, as Lone Tree got the win off of a game high 31 points by Bryan Forbes.
IMS head coach Dwight Gingerich talked about his team’s struggles.
“It just seemed like we had a tough time in every aspect of the game, I thought that we would come in and play better than that,” Gingerich said. “I’m disappointed for our guys I know they’re disappointed, but Lone Tree just played outstanding.”
Lone Tree remains undefeated, while IMS takes their second loss of the season.
