The Washington Demon girls squeaked out a win last night 60-57 against Mt. Pleasant.

Washington trailed at after one 15-5 and only gained three one the Panthers at the halftime break trailed 25-18.

In the locker room head coach Phil Long said he was still optimistic about the way his girls were playing.

“For some reason we went into the locker room and I still felt really comfortable, we’re still shooting terrible from the free throw line and they’re making all of their free throws, and low and behold we come out in the first three minutes of the second half and tie the game up,” Long said.

Washington came out in the second half and tied the game in the first three minutes of the first quarter, led by the charge of Lauren Kimball who led the team with 24 points on the night.

The offensive charge wasn’t enough though as the teams tied up at 50 after four quarters and played some bonus basketball which played to the Demons favor getting the win 60-57.

Washington will play Tipton tonight. The Tigers are 3-7 and are shooting 34 percent from the field.
