The National Weather Service Quad Cities office has added a storm spotter training in Corralville.  After setting their schedule earlier this month, on Monday they added a new class at the Corralville Public Library on February 28.  And staff indicate that more sessions might be scheduled in other locations.

The National Weather Service relies on calls and online storm report submissions from trained residents especially in rural areas to determine the extent of storm damage.  Sometimes, spotters are used to determine if tornadoes and other conditions are present that are not necessarily able to be determined through looking at radar and other remote equipment.

Unlike other locations, for this particular class, pre-registration is requested.  Visit the Quad Cities National Weather Service homepage for a link to do so or click here.
