The character of a community can do a lot to attract residents interested in moving to that community, or it can encourage residents to stay in that community.  The health of a local economy can be related to aspects of a city like a school district.

Washington Economic Development Group Director Ed Raber says that a district with  relatively steady enrollment numbers can make for an attractive place to live. He says that rapid increases and decreases in enrollment can both make for challenges.

In the fall, Washington reported a slightly higher enrollment number.  The equivalent of about 28 more students were enrolled this year during the annual October count.  Hear more from Raber on Today’s Washington Page Program on KCII.
