In the second half of the rivalry match Saturday in Wellman, Mid-Prairie led early but Solon pulled away in the second half to win 62-40. Mid-Prairie came out white hot from behind the three point arc knocking down six threes in the first half against the Solon 1-3-1 zone defense. The Golden Hawks would hold their largest lead of the night at 22-15 midway through the second period on a steal and lay in by Dayton Hall. From there Solon ended the half on a 14-0 run and was up 29-22 at the break. Solon ratcheted up the defense pressure in the second half and made it difficult for Mid-Prairie to get the ball even inside the three point line. On their offensive end the Spartans continued to pound away with their size advantage on the interior. Mid-Prairie was led on the evening by David Aldeman’s 14 points. Aldeman got the spot start as Reid Miller was inactive due to injury. With the loss Mid-Prairie is now 8-10 on the season and will next be in action Friday at Wilton.
