A city in Louisa County has been issued a vehicle usually reserved for the military. Through a government program the Wapello Police Department acquired a 2011 U.S. Military Humvee, free of charge. According to Police Chief, Wayne Crump, the vehicle is basically brand new, with just 7,000 miles on it. He says the surplus vehicle address’s the departments need for something with 4 wheel drive, a need that was very apparent during December’s snowstorm.
