A proposed idea to have the city examine how to replace the city attorney was met with resistance. The current city attorney has not publicly announced any plans for stepping down or retiring from the job. The Washington City Council agenda Wednesday included a resolution that would have set up a task force to work on how a future changeover in the attorney position might best happen.
Council Member Bob Shepherd says that the council, and not the administration should be taking the lead on any search to fill a position that is appointed by the council. The item was postponed. Current City Attorney Craig Arbuckle declined to comment on any of his future plans.
