A task force might be created to look at a transition to a new city attorney. The Washington City Council will be considering a resolution that would create the task force to do research and have discussion about the position. That includes determining whether a new attorney would have an employee arrangement or work on contract. They also would develop a plan for determining interest from attorneys and law firms. And they would propose a timeframe for the transition to a new attorney.
As the draft resolution is written now, the people that would serve of the task force are Mayor Sandra Johnson, City Administrator Brent Hinson, Police Chief Greg Goodman, City Clerk Illa Earnest, and the current City Attorney Craig Arbuckle.
The group would be asked to have a recommendation to the city council by March 15. The council plans to discuss the task force at their meeting on Wednesday.
