At tomorrow’s meeting the Washington County Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution that establishes the intent to join a Mental Health and Disability Services Division, or MHDS, region. Last fall, a resolution was signed approving the participation and planning of these regions. Now the board must sign a Letter of Intent to join the region. According to Bobbi Wulf, Washington County’s Central Point of Coordination, Washington County’s region will include Louisa, Henry, Keokuk, Des Moines, Lee and Van Buren counties.

She says this will give the state an idea of which counties are joining together and who’s meeting the legislations criteria. The next step is to establish a 28E agreement with these counties by July 1st of this year.
