Multiple organizations turned out to state their case for additional funding at last nights Washington budget work session. The four groups who addressed the city council, the Chamber of Commerce’s Welcome Center or Tourism Committee, Main Street Washington, WEDG and Paws and More Animal Shelter asked for more funding in fiscal year 2014. The approved motion allocates $20,000 to WEDG, $15,000 to the tourism committee, $15,000 to Main Street Washington and $10,000 to Paws and More, with $2,500 for a Trap, Neuter, Release program.

The $10,000 for Paws and More comes as a donation from the general fund, while the rest are paid for through the municipal riverboat grant fund.

The council will set the date for the budget hearing at their meeting next week.
