Now that the Iowa State Legislature is in session, county governments are watching closely for any legislation that might impact their county. The Iowa State Association of Counties is a statewide association that is made up of all elected county officials and affiliate organizations. Washington County Treasurer Jeff Garrett says the Association is a source of much help for counties, as it is a place where they can go for advice on a variety of issues, including the legislation.  Training is also offered by the organization on all aspects of County government. Garret tells KCII news that the role the association plays during the legislative session is particularly important in that it can serve a significant role in lobbying for the interests of county governments. Garret was recently elected to serve on the 2013 Board of Directors of ISAC.
