Two new handicapped parking spots will be added to the northeast side of downtown Washington. In a recent evaluation of the business district, the city decided that more handicapped parking was needed. One spot where a rearrangement of parking was possible was near Frontier restaurant.
The new parking will be similar to handicap parking spots that are directly on the square, where they are found in the middle of the block. On Wednesday, the city council passed third reading of an ordinance to create the parking. The new line painting will likely happen after the weather warms in the spring.
