In a push to keep the areas pets with their owners, the local animal shelter held a special event last weekend. According to Director of Paws and More Animal Shelter, Amber Talbot, they held a microchipping event this past weekend at their location in Washington and the PetCo’s in Coralville and Cedar Rapids. Over the two day event they microchipped 45 pets. She explains that with the entry into a nationwide database, microchipping is the best form of identification for your pet, should they get lost.

She adds these larger events allow them to offer the id at a reduced cost, but says its always offered.
