A program Saturday will explain the ways feed sacks played an important part in Iowans daily lives more than 80 years ago. As part of the Washington Public Library’s Fiber Arts February, Michael Zahs will present Iowa History in a Cloth Bag. The program tomorrow at 3pm will explain how the reuse of flour, feed and seed sacks helped the state’s residents survive the Great Depression and the shortages of World War II. The free presentation is being funded by Humanities Iowa, an affiliate of the national organization.
