Today begins the Lenten season, an important part of the Christian calendar. In recognition of Ash Wednesday, Immanuel Lutheran in Washington is holding a soup supper at 5:30 that will precede the traditional service where ashes in the form of a cross will be put on foreheads. Pastor at Immanuel Maureen Howard says there will be prayer services each Wednesday during lent, with a meal beforehand. The 40 days of lent leads up to Easter Sunday.
