A slow start doomed the Mid-Prairie boys basketball team as they fell 62-44 Monday night in the first round of district play at Iowa City Regina. The Runnin’ Regals began the game on a 14-2 run and led 20-5 after the first quarter. At the halftime break Mid-Prairie found themselves trailing 36-14 as Regina forward Drew Cook continued his incredibly hot shooting posting 21 of his game high 27 during the first 16 minutes.

The third quarter belonged to Mid-Prairie as the Hawks went on an 18-4 run that spanned the entire frame to get back in it. Dayton Hall led the charge with nine in the quarter. Mid-Prairie would get as close as seven in the fourth quarter before Regina hit four three’s in the final quarter to pull away. Mid-Prairie was led by Hall’s 16 points. With the loss Mid-Prairie ends their season in the first round of district play at 9-13 on the year. Second Half Rally Comes Up Short For Mid-Prairie
