Results from the state wrestling tournament from day one.
The Demon wrestlers had one move on with Fletcher Green at 113 getting a 7-0 win over Kylie Zender of Humboldt in the first round. Green continues in the championship bracket, and will wrestle Colton Milosevich of Woodward-Granger.
Teammate Tristan Pohren lost in the first round to Caleb Coleman from Bondurant-Farrar by an 8-1 decision and then he also fell in the consolation match to Cole Parmely of Oelwein by a pin knocking Poren out of the meet.
For Mid-Prairie, both Phirom and Nearoth Peterschmidt were knocked out of the championship rounds, with Phirom losing to Cole Bonde from Bedford/Lenox by a 4-3 decision, but he wrestled back in the consolation match and beat Nathan Stickley of Carlisle 10-4.
Nearoth lost his opening match to Christian Brobst of Bishop Heelan Catholic by a pin, but also came back in the consolation and got a 11-2 major decision over Tyler Stork of Atlantic.
Waco’s Cey Saeugling fell in both of his matches and is out of the meet, losing his first one by pin in just 31 seconds to Dylan Winfield of Alburnett, and in the consolation match Dylan Rolfes of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn pinned Saeugling.
Highland’s Travis Cole won his first round match to stay in the winner’s bracket after beating Colby McIntire for Central Lyon/GLR 16-0 in a technical fall. Cole wrestles Lane Nichols of Woodbury Central, Moville next.
Lone Tree’s Alex Yedlik lost his first round by a pin from Brady Meyer of Sumner-Fredricksburg, but won by a major decision in his consolation match 13-4 over Tanner Potter of Griswold.
Ty Robertson lost both of his matches, the first one a major decision from Dylan Brockshus of Sibley-Ocheyedan 16-4, and in his consolation match it was Zach Barton from Corning who pinned him.
All of the area wrestlers will be going today from 9 A.M.-1:30 P.M.
