Discussion on the City of Washington’s 175th anniversary began Tuesday night. At a meeting sponsored by the Washington Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Committee, community members shared ideas on how to celebrate the anniversary in 2014, with suggestions ranging from holding monthly events to focusing on a single week of activities.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Michelle Pieffer says that while nothing was set in stone, they found people interested in being a part of the core development team that will work on organizing the celebration. She adds the new committee hasn’t been formed yet, and asks anyone that’s interested to call the chamber office.
