The Washington Demon girl’s basketball team received many post season accolades with all-conference.

On first team was Lauren Kimball who led the team in points with 185, assists with 42 and had 41 steals.

Kimball was also the co-Southeast conference player of the year along with Rachel Dunlap of Keokuk.

Demon head coach Phil Long said the he was very happy about Kimball receiving both awards this year.

“What you’re look for in a first teamer is: A, a kid who has been in a winning program and we won the conference again this year with a 6-2 record; and then down the stretch what kids wants the ball in her hands and can take over when she needs to and Lauren was a shining example of that,” Long said.

On second team Washington had two players in Stephanie Fishback and Johannah Vittetoe. Fishback had 165 points on the year and 57 steals, while Vittetoe had only 72 points, 69 rebounds and 22 steals due to a concussion that happened in the middle of the season knocking her out of play for most of the season half, but her scrappy defense was a key part in the Demons winning the Southeast Conference.

Honorable mentions were Sammy Ellingson, Beth Dillon, Grace Redlinger, Addie Shive, Natalee Enfield, Olivia Hartzler, Mariah Reighard and Dema Giardino.

Washington also had two All State academic members in Sammy Ellingson and Lauren Kimball, and eight all-academic all-conference players with Dillon, Ellingson, Enfield, Fishback, Hartzler, Kimball, Redlinger and Vittetoe. This award is for juniors and seniors on the team only.

Washington finished their season with their second consecutive conference title and a trip to the regional final game.
