The Iowa 4-H camp program located near Madrid is facing changes. Washington County 4-H and youth coordinator, Amy Green, confirmed that the camp will be different but she said that the specifics for each program is not completely understood at this time.
“The original intent was to offer a full camp schedule for summer 2013 at the Iowa 4-H Center near Madrid,” said Cathann Kress, vice president for ISU Extension and Outreach. “However, we must limit the scope of programming we are able to offer at the center, due to staff changes and budget realities.”
The 4-H camp program specialist resigned to take another position, said LuAnn Johansen, assistant director for the Iowa 4-H program. She said that a team is working to determine possible solutions to sustain Iowa 4-H camping opportunities in the future.

It has become known that the traditional residential and day camps offered to the public will not be available this summer, however all existing rental commitments at the 4-H Center are being honored.
