A water main broke this morning on 6th Avenue between 6th Street and 7th Street in Washington. J.J. Bell, Washington Maintenance and Construction Superintendent, said he thought that crews “broke a record” for how quickly it was fixed. The main was fixed in approximately 2 hours.
Bell explained the cause for the break, stating that the pipe was an old 4-inch cast iron pipe that tends to break when the ground shifts due to the age of the water main.
The street was temporarily closed to repair the water main but is now open.
