Iowa-native and Olympic gold medalist, Dan Gable, will be visiting Washington tomorrow evening.

Gable, who coached Iowa to 15 NCAA titles, had a 182 and 1 collegiate record, was a three-time Iowa High School State Champion and won Olympic gold in 1972 will be speaking at an event open to the public.

Gable is set to be at the Washington YMCA campaign kick-off tomorrow night at JP’s 207 on Main Street in Washington. He will be speaking about the importance of community involvement and what the YMCA can do for a community, explained Becky Harkema CEO of the Washington Y.

The event opens at 5 p.m. This year the goal is to raise $75,000 which is given in scholarships to area families that wouldn’t otherwise be able to participate in programs at the Y.
