The Washington Demon boys ran at Mt. Pleasant last night, and had one champion individual and a champion relay.

Alex Coker in the long jump won the event with a jump of 21’3”, beating second place by 2’1”. Coker’s jump puts him eighth in the entire state in the long jump.

The boys 4×200 was the relay that won with the team of Carl Sivels, Kyle Roder, Gage Redlinger and Coker. They finished with a time of 1:35.40.

Head coach Steve Roth said his top events weren’t surprising to him at all.

“They ran outstanding, and we had bad handoffs in both the 4×100 and the 4×200, and then Coker really popped a good one, he scratched on one even farther than that because we measured it,” Roth said. “It was a really nice night to run, the kids really competed well, we had a lot of nice things, but I knew my sprinters would be really tough.”

Other top performance from the Washington boys last night was Tommy Peterson finishing fourth in the boys shot put with a throw of 42”3”, Jose Tapia finishing fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.29.

In the high hurdles Jacob Hennigan finished fifth with a time of 16.69, Noah Lebsack was sixth in the boys 1600 meter run with a time of 5:03.30, and Austin Witt was fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.21.

Wrapping up the top finishes for the boys was the 4×100 meter relay finishing third with the team of Sivels, Redlinger, Tanner Knupp and Alex Coker with a time of 45.66.

The Demons will be off until next week for the holiday weekend.
