The Demon boy’s track and field team held their 37 team Demon indoor meet last night.

Washington had only one practice and then a pre-meet practice before the meet had some good showings at the meet.

Jacob Hennigan in the 60 meter hurdles qualified 15th to go to the finals and finished four spots up to 11th overall after his finals run with a time of 9.15.

Demon head boy’s track coach Steve Roth said Hennigan was a nice result to see after not being a high guy last year, and with the little practice his team was able to have.

“It’s nice to get one under our belt, we weren’t ready for it mentally or physically we just haven’t had enough practice time outside, the 400 and 800 meter guys that was the first time they’ve gone around a track all year,” Roth said. “I’ve got to say a nice job to Jacob Hennigan because he was not a high hurdler last year, and I worked with him this summer and fall and he did just an outstanding job in the prelims to get into the finals, and that is what you want to do, is get in the finals and then a nice job of jumping up in the finals.”

Other top results were Austin Witt in the high jump who finished 24th after clearing 5’6”, and Tommy Peterson threw 42’2” in the shot put to place him 26th.

The Demons are in action next at the Iowa State indoor on Tuesday. The meet in Ames starts at 4:00.
