The automated wastewater system in Fairfield is up and running, following a glitch that resulted in the bypass of untreated water. On March 10th, while a combination of rain and melting snow was overwhelming Fairfield Wastewater’s collection system, their automated system shut down, leading to the bypass of 459,000 gallons of water into Crow Creek. City Administrator Kevin Flannigan says the issue with the new system has been resolved and is now back online.
