Iowa Mennonite School’s track and field team has a small schedule this year, with just one meet a week, giving the team four meets before the conference meet.

IMS did run at an indoor meet at Central in Mid-March, but has since had to wait out the weather to get back into action.

Head coach Marty Gingerich talked about his team to KCII, and some of the strengths and weaknesses of it.

“We have several individuals that are back, we have Riley Schmieder in distance, Anya Slaughbaugh in the sprints and high jump again, and then we have a couple of other sprinters that have yet to be determined how they perform,” Gingerich said. “We’re not extremely strong in the field events this year, but we do have a few good runners.”

IMS will be in action on April 4 at Danville for their first of four outdoor meets, until they get to the conference meet on May 2.
