Tonight, a former local basketball player from Keota High School will play in the NAIA Div. 2 National championship.

Taylor Stoutner plays at William Penn, and is an ’08 grad from Keota High School.

He is the current record holder for three pointers at William Penn and the leading the three point shooter in the tournament.

Tonight he and the Statesmen of William Penn will play for a National Title against Cardinal Stritch.

Keota head coach Dan Stout said that Stoutner was a part of why his team continues to play they way they do, and that him and Stoutner still keep touch.

“He was one of the kids that I think rally helped turn our program into what it has been the last four to seven years,” Stout said. “He texted me last night after the ball game, and I thought that was pretty cool, but we keep in touch and I definitely follow him and we plan on watching the game tonight on T.V.”

Stout also said that Stoutner has played with the idea of going to Europe and playing professionally.

This game will start at 8 tonight and can be seen on the CBS sports network.
