A handful of Mid-Prairie students are competing at the South East Individual State Speech Contest today. Speech coach Mac Hopper says the 9 students attending the competition, at Vinton-Shellsburg High School, will compete in a wide range of categories, including poetry, acting and improv. He adds they should know if anyone has qualified for the All State competition by Monday afternoon.
