A new bill in the Iowa Senate would expand Iowa’s existing bottle redemption program. Under the legislation, water and sport drink bottles would be included in the state’s five cent deposit program, which already includes carbonated beverages. It also increases the handling fees grocery stores receive for processing the bottles. State Senator Sandy Greiner says some grocery stores may have issues with storing the extra material.
