Garden Transplant Workshop Offered

Russell Kempf

A celebration of life for 94-year-old Russell Kempf, of Williamsburg, formerly of Wellman, will be held Monday, March 18, at 11:30 a.m. at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Highland Ridge Care Center and the Wellman Asbury United Methodist Church.

Crews execute a search warrant in Washington.

At around 12 p.m., Washington Police, Washington County Sheriff Department and Washington Fire Department reported to the 300 block of North Avenue C in Washington to execute a search warrant at a structure next to the railroad tracks.

Supervisors Ask Committee to Review Zoning

The Washington County Board of Supervisors this morning approved a motion to ask the planning and zoning commission to submit a report regarding rescinding zoning and potential ramifications if it is rescinded. The board asked that the report be presented to the board no later than June 4th, which is 60 days after the board’s next regularly scheduled meeting to be held on April 2nd.

Recent Snow, Rain Impact Streamflow

According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa has had above normal precipitation for the second month in a row; however groundwater levels are low across the Hawkeye State, as of last week.

Floods Close Area Roads
