According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa has had above normal precipitation for the second month in a row; however groundwater levels are low across the Hawkeye State, as of last week.

Washington, Louisa, Keokuk and Henry counties are experiencing below normal streamflow. Although, due to the top lay of the ground being frozen, more runoff than normal will occur from snowmelt or rainfall until the ground thaws. This may cause river flooding or flash flooding in some areas. A positive note is that the predicted fish kills in natural lakes and farm ponds due to low water conditions and lack of drainage tile flow did not happen.
