This week is severe weather awareness week in Iowa. Yesterday morning there was a statewide tornado drill to help citizens practice what to do should inclement weather strike.

Dr. Mike Jorgenson, superintendent of Washington schools, explains that students are well versed in what to do in case of inclement weather because they do tornado drills throughout the school year. He says that each classroom has a secure, designated area to go to in the building.

All of the schools in the Washington district participated in yesterday’s statewide drill.
