Towns that utilize Washington County’s dispatch services have received their bill for the coming year. According to Wellman City Administrator, Nick Pacha, they have a yearly contract with the county’s communication commission for police, fire and EMS dispatch-related services.

He says the commission uses a formula to decide how much each town will pay, that takes into consideration the number of calls from the year before, population and property valuation.

For Fiscal Year 2014, Wellman will pay $33,917, a small increase from last year, while Kalona, which has around 1,000 more residents, will pay $63,451.
