A Special Traffic Enforcement Program wave will be this weekend across the state, beginning today, announced the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau. During this wave, law enforcement agencies from around the state will be out looking for motorists who are violating traffic laws during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

During last year’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend, there were 16,279 traffic violations reported by 234 law enforcement agencies that had more than 1,600 officers working during the event.

The next wave will be conducted over the Memorial Day holiday.
