A group of children from Mexico will perform ballet in southeast Iowa, thanks to donations made by local rotary clubs. The group from the Casa Hogar Los Angelitos orphanage in Manzanillo, Mexico will perform in West Liberty tomorrow night and in Washington next week.
Steve Stout volunteered at the orphanage with his wife for ten years and helped raise the $32,000 necessary to bring The Ballet Folklorico Los Angelitos to the area. Stout shares that the planning for this tour began once they had the money in place late last year.
In addition to a number of free public shows, he says the kids will also hold private performances at Washington Middle School and West Liberty High School. Afterwards they’ll get to eat lunch and mingle with students.
