A group that includes representatives from the eighteen cities and six counties in the English River watershed will hold its first meeting later this month. The meeting on May 7thth will go over the issues being experienced downstream and how the Watershed Management Authority will allow them to use grant money to better manage the watershed’s flooding issues. Mayor of Kalona, Ken Herington, says the formation of this group was the next step in the Flood Mitigation Plan.
He says the flooding problems on the English River primarily affect Kalona, Riverside and Wellman.
