The KCII Severe Weather Action Team swung into action for the first time in 2013  when severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Washington County in the late morning and again in the evening.
Warnings also came in late Wednesday night. The warnings were issued at around 9:15 and 10:30 in the morning, and two between 9 and 10pm. KCII news received reports of hail, ranging from bb to marble size, in Keota, Kalona, Brighton, and Ainsworth. The storms that passed through Wednesday night brought strong enough winds to knock down a metal shed near Ollie. Heavy rain prompted a flash flood watch, and eventually a warning for parts of southeast Iowa. Flood warnings have been issued for the Iowa River at Lone Tree and the English River at Kalona.
