The #14 Mid-Prairie girls soccer team saw their four game winning streak come to an end Monday night in Wellman against #4 Iowa City Regina 9-5. The Runnin’ Regals posted two goals in the first six minutes to take an early lead. Mid-Prairie battled back to tie things at two when Meghan Redlinger found the back of the net in the eighth and again in the 14th minutes. The fireworks continued as Regina’s Jenny Wick scored in the 17th and 20th minutes to give Regina their two goal advantage back. With the score at 4-2 Mid-Prairie mounted a second offensive charge in the first half to tie the game again, this time on an Ali Riggan goal in the 30th minute and a Kattie Redlinger PK in the 40th minute.

The Regals kept the offense coming in the second half outscoring Mid-Prairie 5-1 in the frame with goals in the 52nd, 55th, 64th, 70th and 72nd minutes. Mid-Prairie’s lone second half tally was a Kattie Redlinger goal in the 68th minute. Mid-Prairie was led by the Redlinger twins who each scored twice and Ali Riggan’s goal. The Golden Hawks are now 4-2 on the season and are at Mt. Pleasant tonight.
