The latest edition of the Mid-Prairie and Washington girls soccer rivalry went Mid-Prairie’s way Tuesday night in Wellman as the Golden Hawks posted a mercy rule 10-0 win over the Demons in 67 minutes. Like Monday against West Liberty, Mid-Prairie got the scoring going early as Kattie Redlinger tallied a goal in the fifth minute, Meghan Redlinger followed her with a goal in the seventh minute and Taylor Hershberger made it 3-0 Golden Hawks in the 10th minute with a score. After the game Head Coach Bristol Harris talked about his teams quick strike offense

“Well I call it a lightening offense, and I had no idea it was going to be that lightening, and once they finally got into the groove it all started clicking, it was nice,” Harris said.

The first half continued with more of the same as Renee Buckwalter made it 4-0 in the 16th minute. Meghan Redlinger beat the keeper for a second time in the 28th minute pushing the score to 5-0 followed by a goal from Ali Riggan in the 37th minute and a second score from Buckwalter in the 40th minute to make it 7-0 Golden Hawks going to the break. The second half was more Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawks got a goal from Meghan Redlinger in the 49th minute to complete her second straight hat trick, Kattie Redlinger in the 58th minute and Riggan ended it with the game clinching 10th goal in the 67th minute. With the win Mid-Prairie is now 2-1 on the season and will next be in action Friday at Columbus. Washington is now 1-2 and plays Fairfield tomorrow.
