Flooding closed two of the major roads that Mid-Prairie School District uses for bus routes, prompting school officials to cancel classes yesterday. Superintendent Mark Schneider says they would have held school Monday, even if Highway 22 between Wellman and Kalona and Highway 1 remained closed.

He says they would have looked at conditions tomorrow if the situation remained unchanged to layout alternative routes for buses.

He notes in his twelve years as superintendent, he’s never had to cancel school for flooding.
