While Iowa’s Move Over, Slow Down law focuses on emergency vehicles, one state trooper says its common courtesy to follow the same procedure with any vehicle on the side of the road. Jason Marlow, with the Iowa State Patrol, says the law requires you to slow down and make a lane change if possible, when there’s a parked emergency vehicle with its flashing lights activated. Consequences for breaking the law include a fine, and suspension of driving privileges if there’s a crash that involves property damage, personal injury or a fatality.
