After meeting with residents of the county, including those who live in Richmond and Rubio the supervisors voted on issues regarding RUSS. On a 4 to 1 vote yesterday the Washington County Board of Supervisors voted to begin the process to sever ties with RUSS on the Richmond sewer project and pursue the installation of individual systems. Also, on a 3 to 2 vote, the board approved to begin the process of removing RUSS involvement from the Rubio sewer system project.

Tom Duwa, president of Residents for a Better Richmond, says he is happy with the decision and he couldn’t imagine being involved in a 40 year system agreement with RUSS.

An estimated cost of $325,000 for the combined two projects will have to be settled.

During the meeting, some confusion among the supervisors led to County Attorney Larry Brock walking out of the meeting before its adjournment.
