The Washington County Supervisors have received a draft of a letter from the RUSS board’s attorney regarding the possibility of de-obligating the projects in Richmond and or Rubio if action is not taken by April 24th. Supervisor Jack Seward explains that he believes there are three options to move forward on the Richmond sewer system: 1 – force the proposed lagoon project, 2 – direct RUSS to alter the design, or 3 – to cancel the Richmond project with RUSS and direct the county sanitarian to require individuals to have their systems meet code.

Seward said to the board, “Between now and next week we should search our hearts and talk to as many people as possible.” He also expressed that he wishes to meet with anyone that wants to discuss the situation in order to get more feedback from citizens before the board makes a decision next week.

Multiple residents of Richmond and the county expressed interest in the third option during the public comments section of yesterday’s supervisors meeting.
