A Wayland man was subdued with a taser and arrested by a Henry County Deputy Sheriff early Saturday morning. Thirty-six-year-old Richard Mattix, of Wayland, was allegedly attempting to get into a residence that was not his at 12:15 a.m. Saturday.
Upon law enforcement officials’ arrival, Mattix ran from the area and after a foot chase he barricaded himself under a trailer. He resisted arrest and attempted an altercation with the deputy, Mattix was then subdued.
Mattix was charged with second degree attempted burglary, interference with official acts and public intoxication; further charges are pending at this time. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.
